• Lecture to be delivered by Dr. Govind Bhattacharjee, Director General (Direct Taxes), Office of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India, New Delhi, on the topic "Future of Special Category States in the Post14th Finance Commission Scenario", on 20th November 2017, at 11.30 a.m.
• On 5th October 2017, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies (MAKAIAS), Kolkata, organised a talk on “Historical Knowledge and the Indian Perspective” , an initiative of Professor Sujit K Ghosh, Chairman of MAKAIAS, under eminent scholars at MAKAIAS.“ Professor Kailash Chandra Baral, Professor of India Studies and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the English and Foreign Languages University,Hyderabad delivered the first lecture under the series, first of its kind in this Institute. Prof. Baral dwelt on various aspects of Indian concept of History discussing genres such as Itihas-Puran, the Charita and the Samhitaas records of history thereby discounting Hegelian imputation of India as a culture lacking in historical consciousness. He also discussed the problem of ideologically constructed historiography to demonstrate that as a civilisation India has a great sense of values that have endured over time and space.
Following his hour long talk interesting and serious interventions were made by participants to which Professor Baral offered very illuminating and insightful answers. Finally, in summing up the discussion,Professor Sujit K Ghosh, Chairman of MAKAIAS drew attention to diverse oral traditions of India in particular of communities in the Northeast that need to be focused for having an inclusive understanding of Indian past(s) in discussing the historical discourse.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks from Prof. V.K. Srivastava, the Director I/C.

At Ulan Ude, Russian Federation during July 18-25, 2009 the Institute organized and participated, in association with the Institute of Tibetian and Buddhist Studiesm Ulan Ude in (i) an Exhibition on "Monasteries of Rinchen Zangpo" in Tibet and India" (ii) an International Round Table on "Contemporary Situation of Buddhism in Russia and India"; and (iii) an International Seminar on "Asiatic Russia, Central Aia and India: Migration, Regions, Regionalism in Historical Dynamics".
